Also one more question. Why is bio almost as expensive or more to run that regular diesel. I have seen it being sold for almost 4.50 a gallon in california.
So there are my two questions. I wouldn't mind investing in the svo kit if the oil was available.

The SVO WVO demands a heads up operator and an upgrade of a control system to the motor. You have a choice. Spend $$ on every gallon and make biodiesel or spend money on the motor and use SVO. Biodiesel is favored because of its usability in the fuel distribution network. that does not mean it is better. I have traveled in Germany and every farm and trucking company uses SVO (rapeseed oil) whenever they can. They have a fuel standard called DIN that is comparable to the ASTM standard for SVO and it is a recognized fuel. In the USA svo - wvo is not a fuel. The motor manufactures can not even think about making systems with SVO in mind until it is a recognized fuel. Biodiesel, ethanol and a many other fuels, even propane get all kinds of govt incentives to promote alternative fuels. SVO is not included. This is just stupid. It is most efficient to just use SVO instead of using more energy to manufacture biodiesel and then have to deal with the glycerin.
Question 2 answer. The spot price for RDB soybean oil is 60 cents per pound. That is 4.70 per gallon. You then spend about a dollar to make it into biodiesel and then you get the $1 blenders credit from the govt and you have 4.70 gal B99. Add some trucking on there and that is why it is more expensive.
